For the Guys of '62

By Al Munns

I was okay with the "age thing"

Until I looked in the bathroom mirror one morning

And saw my grandfather looking back at me.

He looked surprised...

Maybe for a second it was an earlier version of reality

He was seeing:

A time when fewer body parts loudly complained and

More body parts worked the way they were intended;

A time when bouncing back

Didn't take longer than wearing out;

A time when our games were played

Instead of watched on tv;

A time when social networking meant

Passing notes in class... and

Wondering if she liked what you had sent her...

But then the mirror steamed over and

I was alone in the present.

Until I slowly wiped away the fog and

Saw my grandson looking back at me.

He looked surprised...
