Patricia Olive Cummings, of Thomasville, left this world to be with her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, April 3, 2024. She was 80 years old. She lived a life filled with joy, love, compassion, and adventure. She always sacrificed and put the needs of her family first.
She is survived by her loving husband of nearly 61 years, Jerry, who devoted himself to her care during her final years. She is also survived by her daughter, Sandi Buchanan and her husband, Brian, and grandchild, Branson. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse & Lillian Olive, her son, Jeffrey Walter and brother, Clyde.
Pat was born on December 12, 1943, in Yanceyville, NC. Pat graduated from Ragsdale High School and Kings Business College afterwards. She met the love of her life, Jerry Cummings in high school and they were married on June 8, 1963. They shared a wonderful love story for almost 65 years. Their family was complete with the addition of their son, Jeff and their daughter, Sandi. Pat was a loving and devoted Mother. She was a constant and supportive presence in their lives. She planted her seeds of faith in her children and grandchild and all those around her.
She retired from the Human Resources department at SaraLee SilverKnit division in High Point. Pat & Jerry then traveled the country together in their motor home for several years before returning to care for her Mother.
Pat was a member of Southgate Baptist Church in Thomasville. She loved the Lord, her church, traveling, gardening, the ocean, walking the beach, and fishing.
Though her health failed in her final years, she continued to be a blessing to all those who came in contact with her. She lived with such a strong faith in God and displayed joy and grace in the midst of her struggles. She will always be remembered for her cheerful disposition.
A celebration of life service will be held on Sunday, April 7, 2024, at 2:00 pm at Southgate Baptist Church,104 Cloniger Dr., Thomasville, NC. with Pastor Russell Foxx officiating.
The family will receive friends following the service.
In lieu of flowers, friends, and family are requested to make contributions in her memory to the Hospice Home of High Point, 1801 Westchester Dr., High Point, NC 27262.
The family would like to express their gratitude and appreciation to all her caregivers at the Hospice Home and the entire Hospice staff. They were truly a blessing to Pat & the family.
